I'm a Vancouver based cinematographer & filmmaker, with experience in long & short form documentaries, doc - series, and corporate video production. My passion lies in telling character-driven stories of social & environmental relevance. As a visual storyteller, my goal is to open people’s eyes to the beauty in things they most commonly overlook, misunderstand, or take for granted.
In the Spring of 2016 I began filming season one of a 12x30 documentary series called Wild Bear Rescue, which was produced by Omnifilm Entertainment and aired on Discovery & Animal Planet Canada. The series follows the Langen Family who run the Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter in Smithers, British Columbia specializing in bear rehab. For five months I filmed this series, primarily in a one-man band format and was privileged to be the only cameraman allowed inside each of the bear enclosures. As Director Of Photography, my goal for the series was to work as closely with the bears as possible, providing unique insight into bear behaviour while avoiding habituation.
In 2015 I began filming, directing, & editing a documentary on at-risk members of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside finding self-worth through urban beekeeping & gardening. Eastside Unfiltered, explores how green respite serves as a sanctuary in the centre chaos. To learn more about Eastside Unfiltered, please follow the link below.
The Westside Schools approached me to do a series of videos about their unique school situated in the core of Downtown Vancouver. This video highlights their "Miniversity Program" which provides the students with a fluid curriculum in a school without classrooms.
"Foundation Years Program"
The Westside Schools' "Foundation years program" is a teacher-managed Program that concentrates on providing students with an engaging atmosphere, and develops strong foundation skills, particularly in English and Math.
"Building Bee Space"
Hives for Humanity is a non-profit organization that encourages community connections through apiculture, more commonly known as beekeeping. Hives For Humanity was in need of a crowd funding video to raise money to build "Bee Space" a place for the Downtown Eastside community to come together and exchange ideas.
