Researcher & Field Coordinator
In 2012 Jennica took a break from studying for a Psychology degree at UBC to volunteer at the Hill Crest primary school in Arusha Tanzania. She spent three months supporting the staff and children, and later fundraising for the school. In 2013, relying on her knowledge and contacts in Tanzania, she worked with her father and cameraman Kyle Sandilands to help shoot and develop the documentary Volunteers Unleashed. While continuing with her studies, Jennica researched the stories and locations for the documentary as well as working as the production coordinator for shoots in Tanzania and Ecuador. Were it not for Jennica’s understanding and passion for overseas volunteering, as well as her ability to access characters and situations, this documentary project would not have been possible.
